At Mukisa Children’s Community Centre we strive to improve the physical, social and emotional health of young children between the ages of 3 to 5 years.
MCCC empowers communities with information to build healthy minds of pre-school children. Every child deserves access to quality care and vulnerable communities do not have access to knowledge activities, physical space, and tools necessary to support early childhood development.
Improved care and healthy development of children in disadvantaged communities in order to become responsible contributors of that community.
In Ugandan communities, poverty, lack of information, limited resources and poorly funded social institutions are key contributor to unsatisfactory early childhood growth. A study on Uganda Violence against Children (VAC) conducted by UNICEF and the Ugandan Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development, showed that the majority of young adults experienced physical violence during their childhood with nearly half experiencing it at the hands of parents or adult caregivers.

There needs to be support for organizations that address these issues and serve as a community resource for parents, guardians and caregivers of children.
There needs to be assistance for the child’s entire support system who cannot afford childcare and/or have limited access and/or funds for basic needs such as food, clothing and medical expenses.
Such a simple word! At Mukisa we treat everyone we interact with in a courteous, patient and friendly manner.
We welcome all faiths, cultures, and variety of caregivers, and value the ideas and opinions of all age groups.
We function with a relaxed, informal atmosphere. However, to ensure Mukisa’s success, the values we have established need to be honored by everyone. We are committed to demonstrating positive behaviors, such as kindness, respect for self and others, and appreciation of and nourishment of our environment.
Our center is focused on nurturing of the child. However, that can only succeed when their entire extended support system is able to contribute to their healthy growth. Caregiving does not just come from parents but all members of the child’s community.
MCCC is a “home away from home” where everyone is welcome to enjoy the physical space by sharing, learning, guiding and relaxing.
We adhere to the utmost respect for self, others and the natural environment. No matter if you are an adult or child, we encourage both to have a voice and be a positive participant in the growth of our children.
